Just hit level 80 on Mesmer. Hello guys, as the title implies i've just hit lvl 80 on Mesmer and i'm lost on what to do, gearing wise. My first objective is getting the Skyscale and then going for fractals but i don't know what gear to get. I've alredy got a full zerker with ascended trinkets (returning player) but i know it isn't good for level 1. Sirspen. · 8m · edited 8m. Depends on if you're doing power or condi damage. Power is easiest to gear for. Getting Marauder's armor (++power ++precision +vitality +ferocity) and berserker's weapons and trinkets (++power +precision +ferocity) will get you plenty of DPS and a good amount of HP. Added bonus is berserker's is meta for Thus the term "champ bag" is both a misnomer and harder-to-define than original. However, again, use the same rule of thumb:just open everything on a lower-level toon: for level-adjusted loot, you'll get the gear with more valuable salvage materials. And for other bags, you'll get the same loot as you would anyhow, e.g. UnID gear bags.
Secondly, and more importantly, the end game is all level 80, Guild Wars 2 leans into horizontal progression, rather than vertical, so while there are plenty of gear upgrades to hunt down later, they're never going to be the same as gear upgrades in WoW.
You may as well be lvl 5 and dodge, you survive. Or you may be a lvl 80, get hit and die. This is a learn to play issue on gw2. Level and stats means just "sometimes", specially on offensive. But defensively you just need to move out of fields, dodge attacks, reflect projectiles, learn how to survive. 1.

You should buy the expansions (HoT+PoF) because the game gets huge (horizontally and vertically). Totally worth It. You get level 80 boost and exotic gear on the character you use it on. You can unlock mounts with different mechanics for each one.

Generally, the best thing to do at your level is salvage gear and sell it. Low-Mid level salvaged materials are usually more valuable than top level materials. Alternately, salvage gear and use it to level crafting skills you are interested in. Or salvage and hoard the materials for later.
When they got to nearly lv 80, I used the boost. The boost to me, as a new player, was good so I can have exotic gear and the tree unlocked. Game is too overwhelming to learn, so I recommend leveling up everything, specially as a new player. The base game is actually amazing, with tons of different areas to do events and level up. You want to save up for at least exotic weapons and armor. It is not cost effective to invest in rares. If you like don't have anything (all gear is below 70), then simply buy masterwork (green) level 80 berserker gear for everything. You can do dailies for 2g each day. You also get free materials from login rewards. Double-click to open. — In-game description. Contains a rare or exotic piece of level 78-80 gear for rangers. Double-click to open. Prior to the February 26, 2013 update, Ranger Gear boxes were disabled and could not be opened due to accidentally rewarding players with items a Ranger could not use. A lot of your gear from the personal story, karma vendors, and general loot however should suffice, especially considering that buying a full set of gear can be expensive. In fact many players don't touch the trading post to buy gear until level 80, as you'll need the exotic gear then, the highest gear, right after ascended quality gear. .
